Im not sure if I should post this here..but it fits the best.
I want to find my dad, simple enough. Although she doesnt know I know, my mother has looked for him to try and get child support, with no sucess. I am wondering if there is a way I could look for him that doesnt cost money, because obviously I dont have that resource as a minor. I have talked it over with my mom, and I would like to know who he is. The only information I have on him is a name and approximate age, plus an area he used to live in. I dont know how much good that will do, but I would really like to find him. I would also not like him to know I would be looking for him b/c I have NO wish to mess up any current family situation he is in. Thank you for whatever help you can offer...

Sounds like you'd be looking for a needle in a haystack however.... I would recommend this site:

http://www.cyndislist.com/

The site is primarily concerned with geneology (family history) but you would probably find the links listed under the heading "Finding People" helpful. Also check out what's under "Adoption". That would be your best shot at getting information about how to go about finding people with only a few bare facts to start with.

Good luck. smile

you could try www.switchboard.com- type in the last name and state. It's a good place to start, you may have to try doing it state by state, if you have no idea where he is.Another good place is www.angrygrandma.com it has plenty of people searching for someone.Don't give up, I found my husbands birth mom. Use whatever resources you find and search. Good Luck!

There's also:Rootsweb

If you type in the first and last name sometimes the results brings up marriage certificates at the bottom of the page if you scroll down.

Jeje, I keep getting a "can't find" message when I try your link. I think it's because there's a dash after "com."
