Who is faster? ++++++++++++++ 08-06-02, 02:42 PM teeceeum and their top speed on the fastest road courses is about 205-210 mph. A CART racer will reach speeds of 240+ mph on a large oval, and an Indy Car (IRL) is about 7 mph slower.
02-18-03, 08:10 PM Matiqua Cart raced on the Formula One circuit in Montreal in late 2002. The Cart racers proved to be about 30 seconds slower although they run on a different fuel than F1 does. Putting that aside however, if a Champ Car is quicker than an IRL racer-as TC has stated above-but an F1 car is quicker than a Champ Car, I would say that F1 is quicker.
And although F1 does not run on a complete oval, one time in the past F1 did participate in the Indy 500 and they do run partly on an oval now due to the race at Indianapolis (race 15/16 on the caleneder if I'm not mistaken).

I believe that the F1 cars do have a higher speed but they can not be fairly compared as F1 does not run on a course that Indy does, or even a full oval course. Also the engines run on different fuel, so the engines are modified to take that fuel. The fuel that Indy and Cart use is slower than the fuel that F1 uses, so it can not really be a fair comparisem.
04-14-03, 10:18 AM APEX well to tell the truth im a fan of both, but i really enjoy whatching the street courses for the indy cars ever seen it?
04-14-03, 05:57 PM Matiqua Actually APEX, the Indy cars (IRL) race only on ovals. It is the Champ Cars (Cart) and NASCAR that race on street circuits. Also Toyota Atlantic but I can't remember them all. Cart and NASCAR both also race on ovals, a mix of both. Cart also has a race on an airfield.
04-14-03, 08:21 PM APEX hmmm well even a car geneous can be wrong once in a while! lol thanks for the corection
04-15-03, 07:17 AM Matiqua welcome.
