Definitely closed wheel. Open wheel is just too dangerous, and I like to see cars banging around into eachother.

I prefer NASCAR all the way, although all motor sports are my hobby

Indy Cars. I'm not a big auto racing fan, but if I'm going to watch a race it might as well be the fastest things on 4 wheels, making Nascar seem rather pointless. And that's before taking into account the 'redneck factor'. With either type of racing the drivers are so well protected that crashes (usually) don't make it much of a blood sport.

I think the Top Fuel guys might take exception to Indy Cars being referred to as the fastest thing on four wheels.

Well I must be showing my ignorance -- sorry. Aren't the cars that race in the Indianapolis 500, and other races on that circuit, the fastest class of auto racers in organized competition? Surely they average higher speeds than Nascar vehicles, don't they? (Of course I'm excluding rocket-powered contraptions that set land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats, some of which are 3-wheeled.)

Indy Cars run the fastest circuit, but Top Fuel dragsters top out around 300MPH in the quarter mile.

OK, I guess I meant to say the fastest things on 4 wheels that can go around & around an oval track.

I have been involved in Sports Car Club of America for over 30 years. First as a safety volunteer, then a driver and now a race official. Lot of fun and not that expensive. We road course race. That is, a race track with left and right turns and some elevation changes.

Check our clubs site out. May be you like to give it a look. Just click on "Find a region near you"

For those who enjoy going to live race events, Motorola has a sweepstakes to win a vacation package and tickets to the 2008 Grand Prix of Sonoma. You have to enter at motodanica.com by June 30th tho. The event is in August.
