As I drive around with my nursing I encounter MANY towns.

What is funny is I will see signs such as:

Entering Borough of "such and such".......

Entering city limits......

What is the difference between a township, borough, town, city, etc?

A township
Is considered as a subdivision of a county, which has the status of a local government.

A borough (bûr’ō or bŭr’ ō)
Is an incorporated town that is self governing

A town
Is an area that is heavy populated compared to the surrounding area

A village
Is a rural area with small group dwellings

A city
Is a town where the population is quite significant, which is the center of commerce and culture.
