What age do you have to be to be called a sophomore college student ?
And also what is the earliest age a student can legally "drop out"?
In the Uk to be eligible to move up a "year" your birthday should be before September 1st.
Where is this set in North America?

Being called a sophmore doesn't have anything to do with age. It's just the level you're at in college (or high school.) A sophmore is anyone in their second year of high school or college. So a 70 year old coming back to college would be called a sophmore after they finish their first two semesters and go into the next two. I've now got one more semester in my sophmore year (just finishing my first semester as a sophmore.) So does that make sense?

I don't think there's a law that says you have to be a certain age to drop out of school. Not that sure about that one.

I think that most states require that parents send their child to school or home school them, usually until the age of 16. I know that some school districts will use that law to 'enforce' attendance, often telling parents of frequently-absent students that they (the parents) can be charged with neglect and have the child removed from the home. Usually, these students are ones that often cause problems while in school, so the district wants to be able to count them as attending so as to get the federal and state funds that are tied to raw numbers, but they also don't want the student to attend too often becasue of the problems the students cause.

Yeah, in high school. you can legally drop out at 16, but the school can suspend you at age 7 or 8. Roll Eyes
