I few days ago, I mentiond that the heir to the Hapsburg dynasty (Austro-Hungarian Elmpire) was, in the 1970s or 80s, a politician in Germany. I just remebered another factoid like that. A girl I grew up with became an Orthodox nun, sometime in her 40s. At the convent she lives in, there was an old woman. (Yeah, there are always old women at convents.) The old woman was the former Princess Ileana of Romania, daughter of the King Ferdinand and Queen Marie of Romania, granddaughter of Queen victoria of England, Granddaughter of Tsar Alexander II of Russia, cousin to the Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Russia through both her mother and father, cousin to King George V of England.
Now, in the New York Times, I see that the heir to the Ottoman throne has been living in the same apartment in New york since 1945. (The Ottomans ruled from 1299 to 1924.) His Imperial Highness Prince Ertugrul Osman and his wife, Zeynep, a niece of the last king of Afghanistan, pay $350 a month for their Lexington Avenue apartment.
