I wondered long and hard.. what does this dot mean?

I think it is a rather attractive little personal accent. How is it done and why?

I don't think that it would look any good on me, but it is rather neat.

At one time it was the sign of a married woman. Now it is also a fashion worn by unmarried woman.

They are called "Bindi" and used to indicate marital satus. They are also a symbol of spiritual union through marriage; traditionally, one was supposed to look into the dot rather than into a married woman’s eyes, thus not only showing respect, but also avoiding undue flirtation.

Us women really need to be kept under control if we couldn't look a guy in the eye while talking to him. What would we do to these poor guys that couldn't figure out if we were married wihout something right on our face to tell him. I think that is a completely disrespectful way for a culture to treat women.

i personally dont see it as disrespectful. we wear a wedding band. this is a physical sign that we are married. they use a dot. just because it is more visable dosent make it disrespectful.
