I just picked up a cast brass chandelier at a garaage sale. It is quite heavy and looks quite old. The ceiling plate says it was made in Spain. Does anyone know how to determine if it has any kind of value or even how ancient it might be?

Uh... Wait until Antiques Road Show comes to town?

I would start off by doing Google searches. Keep refining your search until you reach a manageable level of references.

A brass chandelier could be worth quite a bit if it is an antique. I would recommend that you call several local antique dealers and find out if they do appraisals. Be careful of anyone that wants to buy it immediately from you, chandeliers can go all the way up to 20,000 or more depending on who made them and when. Yours probably isn't worth that much but you should get multiple opinions.

I did a search online for < Free antique appraisals CHandeliers > and came up with a bunch of results. Not knowing what your chandelier looks like makes it impossible to help more than that.

Oh, and one thing I've learned from Antiques Roadshow is that you should not attempt to clean it yourself until you know what kind of value it has.
