What search engines do you use as a reliable back up if your usual search service does not come up with the goods?
I collect search engines and Search services and Post new ones if they look good.
So I'm spoilt for choice For my reserve list. Google is my No 1
and my current favorite as a back up is Trovando.it which is a brilliant "Multiengine" search engine site with the power of over 3000 search engines
Brilliant for helping find answers to queries
Ps Close runner up before I discovered that site was www.zuula.com (has about 16 engines)

Google very rarely lets me down, but on the odd occasion that it does I use Yahoo.

I've never heard of Trovando.it, so gave it a try. I wasn't impressed with the results that it gave. Perhaps it was me not using it correctly.

Karrow It works this way..

Enter your keyword search in then click on the search engine name you want to use below it...Comes up with all the pages for that search very fast and ...To switch engines (use the same keyword click on the other link in the Trovando frame ... comes up in no time flat
With practice you can do several engines (searches) per minute ...even with dialup
and to change the type of search altogether click on the Top of the windo (New sets of engines appear)


On other multi search or "meta" search engines you'll get a mix and match sets of results and you have to wait awhile it compiles the results to display (often in a cut down form)

The 2nd best search engine with a similar search method (and less engines ...only 16!) I found is called www.zuula.com
And all the engine changes are done by clicking on the Tabs(which you can swap to suit in Preferences)
That might be easier for you to operate? Trovando, if you go deep needs a bit of"knowing where you are going !" can get lost easily ...

Google has always been my first choice. As for a 2nd best, I can use either MSN search or Alta Vista with reasonably good results.
