Thanks Sher, and thanks for the links. I was reading the article about waxing, and it said that waxing remove hair at the root, but I guess that means that it gets to the root, but don't get the root, because it also said that the results only last 3 to 8 weeks.
Thanks again, very interesting/educational links.

Honi, waxing, tweezing, and threading will all remove the hair at the root. The only permanent hair removal is to totally damage the hair follicle so that no more hair can be produced. This can only be done through electrolysis (thin probe is inserted into each hair follicle with electric current passing into it) or laser.

I have a friend who has quite a few strands of hair on her chin, they aren't very noticable unless you are "in her face" lol Regardless, you can see them and she has shaved them, only to end up with bumps that look like acne and the hair growing back. Is this laser hair removal thing permament? or do you have to go back multiple times?

You have to go multiple times because hair growth is in a continual cycle. While some hair has already "sprouted" from the follicle, there is other hair in a "dormant" state. That is why you can tweeze hair one day and the next find more hair. The hair in one follicle can be under the skin while the hair in the follicle next to it has already pushed through. So it can take multiple treatments to kill all the hair follicles. But once all have been treated, it is permament.

Well waxing is cheaper! But then you have to add up the cost of waxing for the rest of your life compared to several hundred dollars you might spend of laser removal and you'll find the laser removal is cheaper in the long run!
