I got my wedding ring and engagement rings welded together several months ago and have been wearing them without incident until recently. An itchy red bumpy spot has developed beneath the ring, on the inside of my hand. I took the rings off for a week, and the rash went away. But it returned within 48 hours of putting it back on.

The rings are platinum, but I'm not sure what they used to stick them together. It looks like three little hunks of silver metal. None of the hunks are where the rash is.

Do you think there is bacteria or something caught between the rings? Any idea how I'd be able to clean them out really well?

Clean your rings with denture cleaner...the tablets that bubble like alkaseltzer, rinse well and dry carefully...and remove them when you do housework, especially washing dishes, and dry them carefully after you bathe.
I have the same trouble with my engagement ring, there is a hollow space that traps moisture, soap and other ookie stuff, but after I stopped wearing my rings for wet jobs, the rash stopped.

Try rubbing some benedryl ointment on your finger. This will help the soreness. Don't wear your rings when you do dishes or when you go to bed. Sometimes when I would eat acidy foods this would happen. (oranges)

Nice to you Cris Smile

Cris, you've already gotten good advice, but I just wanted to say that so much can accumulate under your rings, and it's important to take them off and clean them often. I never take mine off until I clean them, and a lot of lotion or creams can get trapped.

Cris... I have the same problem with metal. You are allergic to the metal in the solder. All you gotta do is put clear nail polish over the inside of the ring every once in awhile. You might just start by putting the nail polish on the solder since you aren't allergic to the platinum.

I used to get the red bumps from rings, my watch, earrings, and necklaces... it is exactly like you describe.

And btw... cortizone makes the bumps go away. Send me an email and maybe I can hook you up. Smile
