I found one I really like - made by Desert Essence - called Lip Rescue. It has tea tree oil in it (there are likely other brands with the Tea Tree Oil as well). You can find it at health food and vitamin stores.

Lydia, that doesn't sound bad at all.. and it is really fairly inexpensive. I found it online at this site:

Lip Rescue

Sher - The one I'm referring to has the Tea Tree Oil - that one is probably really good too (that was the Kiwi/Strawberry - which I don't think has the Tea Tree Oil in it) - but it likely smells better than the one I use.

The one with the Tea Tree smells somewhat medicinal, but it works really well. It's pretty cheap too.....it's at the following site:

you may have to do a search at this site (tea tree lip rescue) will bring you to the kind I buy.

I tried a couple of the advertisors on the AP site, but didn't see the product listed. There may be one that I didn't locate.....if you're thinking of purchasing it online - - give our advertisors a shot!!! wink

Don't lick your lips at all. I find the more I do, the worse they get. I'm kind of like u. I carry chapstick w/me and at all times and go through tubes of it like nothing. I've tried SO many brands and the one I keep coming back to now is Lip Smackers Swirls. You can get them at Wal-Mart. I know it doesn't sound too medical or anything, but even the ones that were medicated ended up just drying my lips out too fast or becoming kind of sticky. Give it a try!

a warning about chapstick, it contains alcohol which only drys your skin worse. that´s how they get you to also buy more.

Try "Chap Stick Lip Balm, Lip Moisturizer" (make sure it's the one with the blue label!) It is a conditioning lip balm with sunscreen, and the important ingredients of aloe and vitiamin E.

Another really good over the counter product is Aquaphor healing ointment. I was introduced to it when I was going through radiation treatments from breast cancer. The radiation nurse told me that it was also wonderful for chapped lips, and she was right. Give it a try.
