Does anyone out there know anything about Psoriasis? I have a rash on my arm and I was told it resembles a type of Psoriasis rash. Its very itchy, scaley, red and somewhat swollen. It doesn't hurt, just itches. I have tried many lotions to help the rash thinking it was a heat rash. One of my friends told me to use Exorex. Is this something that I need to go to the dr to have prescribed? Should I be concerned? Any info would help. Thanks

you need to go to the doctor and have it properly diagnosed. it sounds a lot more like exzema, which is very common. in the meantime you can try using very high fat cremes, like petroleum jelly or perhaps a cremem for cuts and scrapes.

Psoriasis is typically found on the back of elbows, on the knees, and sometimes on the back.

Eczema can affect any part of the body and can be triggered by a variety of factors.

There is also Lichen Planus which is recurring and causes round or irregular shaped areas that are brown or pink in color. And there are many different forms of dermatitis that can also cause rashes.

It would be your best bet to follow Hassia's advice and see a doctor - specifically a dermatologist. Different skin conditions react to different medications. Once he diagnosis you he can easily prescribe an ointment. I've actually had my dermatologist "make-up" my own special ointment which consists of Eucerin and Menthol.

I agree with the above statements for sure. Psoriasis can be exacerbated by stress and anxiety. My father had a really bad case of it all over including behind his ears.

Good luck to you. Smile
