A few months back, I kind of got into a biking accident(not serious at all) and gouged a small chunk of skin off in the center of my left shin, going about 2-3 cm long and about 1 cm wide. It was deep enough to where the skin remaing, before it went to my bone(or maybe it did go all the way through? It was hard to tell) was paper thin. For some reason, it hardly bled at all, but that`s not what I`m asking about anyway. Obviously, it wasn`t too serious. So it`s been about 6 months now, and it`s just turning into...a scar that looks like it was molded in? It`s hard to explain the appearance, but I`ll get to my question now. I`ve seen some peoples scars, and they look like...I guess you could say a lump of dried glue over their skin(of course, skin colored). I`m thinking it`s too late to do anything about it now, but I`m afraid that it will keep scarring up and get to that point(like a lump of skin that looks like it was pasted on). Is there anything I can do about it, even now? It`s not the end of the world or anything, but it`d be nice if I could do something about it. I don`t even know if it will go to that point. Just for more clarification on one point; in case someone should need to take it into consideration when giving me an answer-- When I got the cut(?), my friend`s mother just put disinfectant(don`t know what it`s called, it was red), and then taped that cotton/cloth thing over it(the stuff you`d find in a first aid box; not just scotch tape and a rag). I don`t know if that really matters, but I don`t know much about this kind of thing. So anykind of answer would help. Thanks!

The best thing to do when you get a cut is to keep a bandaid on it and put neosporin or a generic type antibotic cream or ointment on it. After it heals if you put Vit E oil on it, it will not scar as bad. I think you could still try the Vit E oil. They also make in the bandaid section somekind of new stuff to help make scars go away. I have never read on the box but I saw it at Walmart when I was getting bandaids. a nurse
i agree with nursey, check out your local drug store for some products that they may have.
however if they do not work, and you are really not happy with the scar, then you have another option. Many people do not know that plastic surgeons can remove scars for you. For your scar it would probably be a very quick and fairly inexpensive procedure. You would first go to see the doctor for a consult, then he would schedule an appointment, where he would just cut around the scar with his blade and sew up the remaining skin. because they are trained very well, the scar you have would be reduced to a very fine, if not invisible line. The procedure only takes a couple of minutes and would only need a local anesthetic.

A friend had breast implants last year. She researched and used this product for the surgical site .....she has no scars at all. This product will work on old and keloid (?sp) scars also. My husband used it on an old scar from the removal of a mole....and the scar is almost completely gone.
