Since I try to not get a real tan anymore I would like a self tanner that:

1. is easy to apply
2. last for more than a day or two
3. smells good
4. doesn't come off on clothes or furniture

Any suggestions? I have tried Estee Lauder (it was okay) and Merle Norman which was really nice, but I do not want to pay that much for a tan. Thanks! Smile

My brother uses L'Oreal Sublime spray and really likes it. It's not a coating (some kind of deep penetrating thing) and lasts for more than a day. Like this.

Hope that works well for you, Kit. And sorry for the delay, of course. I just found out the name today.

In my opinion, one of the best and easiest to use is Neutrogena Sunless Tanning Foam. It's streak-free, fast drying, and the foam has a slight tint to it which makes applications fool proof! And for the back I use Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray. It applies like an airbrush spray but I don't advise you use it all over. I've been applying self tanners ever since the days of "QT" in the 70s and I have mastered the art of self tanning....but this Neutrogena MicroMist product is one I cannot apply evenly and streak-free. It is, however, perfect for the back so after applying the foam I hit that small area between my shoulder blades with the MicroMist spray.

A note tho...I have tried almost every self tanner product available and I have yet to find one that does not make me smell like I have been sleeping with the fishes as it goes through it's chemical process to dye the skin. They smell nice in the bottle but once those chemicals start reacting with your own natural makeup you will get some odor. Neutrogena produces the least odor with my particular body chemisty.

Thanks guys, since I posted I have tried some...I have the L'Oreal Sublime Gel, it goes on great and hardly smells at all, but it takes FOREVER to dry, I feel tacky for hours...I also have tried the micro mists and I agree, they are good for your back or areas that you can't reach, but they don't go on too evenly...Georgia, I really like the Neutrogena foam, it goes on easily, and dries almost instanly, also not much of a smell....My problem is if I apply it too often I get really itchy....I DO wish they didn't stink after you put them on, I nearly gagged myself the other night with the Banana Boat lotion, the cats even slept else where that night.
