When a mosquito bites me the area swells up and gets really hot to the touch. Sometimes there is so much swelling it bruises.

What is a really good mosquito repellant?
What is the best product to relieve the symptoms once I've been bitten?

When I was doing my stint as a Marine Biologist we used Avon's "Skin so Soft" to repel all flying insects while we were in the salt marshes. The oil clogs the insect pores and prevent them from flying around you. Of course, by the end of the day we were covered with their tiny corpses!

But to this day I still swear by that product.

Natrapel is the best insect spray that I've used.

I have found that OFF!'s botanical repellent works very well -and it doesn't smell so bad! But when I do get bit, hydrocortisone is very soothing.

My seven year old son has had this problem with mosquito bites all his life. I still remember the first time he was bitten by one it was on his leg and it swell up as big as a golf ball I was so scared I rush him to the hospital I was told that he was just more sensitive than most and he would more than likely out grow this but so far he has not. Anyway I agree with Elexina on the kind of OFF it does work good but once you have been bitten I have found that Benadryl's itch stopping gel works great at not only taking the itch away but the stinging and swelling too. I never leave home without it. Beth

Take a Bounce sheet, rub it on your arms, legs and any other exposed part, then tuck it in your waistband. Mosquitos will avoid you.
