Has anyone used tetracycline for severe acne, what are the pros and cons of using it. I'm looking for feedback of ones who have used it or know of someone.
Thanks

I've never had acne bad enough to require medications, but I found a web page that is informative. I hope this helps a bit.

In my experience, it did not work. Yeast infections are one side effect, although I never had one. Want my opinion? Drop your dermatologist and call your local aesthetician. I battled acne for years, even eventually taking Accutane, which, IMHO, is a very harsh and dangerous drug that should be taken off the market. It wasn't until I started seeing an aesthetician for glycolic and sensitive skin facials that I noticed some results. Once I discovered that I could leave the meds behind and still have a nice complexion, I never looked back! Today I get facials once every other month or so and use only sensitive skin products, such as those in the Cetiphil line.

Tec is a good bandaide for acne...but does not solve the problem...I don't think people should sign themselves up so easily for it...unless they are a grade 3-4 acne...think of it this way...if tec and other antibiotics kill strep throat in 10-14 days...why dosen't it kill the acne? What you need to do is get some topical meds from your doc. and see an esthetician for help with a good regime at home. GOOD LUCK!
