Does anyone know what I can do about boils? I have had them practically all my life. They run in my family. (First of all, let me say that I go to the doctor regularly and they are definitely boils and nothing else.) My doctor told me that I could go on an antibiotic, but once I go off of them, they'll come back. I read in a publication that I should eat more citrus fruits, which I just started to do last week. The same publication also said I should eat bananas. Anyway, my body must be crying out for something. Suggestions, anyone?

It helped me, all right - helped me lose weight as now I don't want any breakfast! Seriously, my late husband and I both suffered from staph infections for about 3 years running. I didn't read the whole article(s) so I don't know if it said this, but we all carry staph bacteria on our bodies. I think due to the stress we were going through at the time, our immune systems became compromised. Eventually, it just stopped. I haven't had any problem since, but I am still wary. The least little sore and I examine it carefully. See if your doctor will let you have a preventative prescription for staph so you can start taking it as soon as you notice one coming on. Cold salt water poltices also help. If you get them early enough, you can stop them. And good luck! Catty (who knows how painful these things are!)
