I've been using alcohol for years. After showering, just use cotton rounds moistened with rubbing alcohol. Dead bacteria can't make stinkies! I've had no complaints from my part-bloodhound wife. She'd tell me!
When I was a kid I was snooping in the attic one day and found this old, old book on hygiene. It recommended baking soda dissolved in water. Being a base, I suppose it is the counterpart of Bonnie's vinegar and water. Have you noticed that a lot of the 'earth-friendly' cleaning products involve vinegar or baking soda? While they may not kill bacteria as effectively as alcohol, they probably create a hostile environment for them.

Back when jr was young and could play 4 hours straight of full court basketball, he always kept a bottle of rubbing alcohol in his car to dowse the pits afterwards. Now, the only alcohol he keeps comes in a brandy bottle.

I can't imagine that this is a good plan for those with sensitive skin. Memories of rubbing alcohol applied to my ear lobes (for pierced ears) and face (for pimples) leave me thinking that this method should be used with some caution lest some more sensitive types end up with red scratchy pits.
