My son is 6 months old as of May 6th. He developed a weird rash on his cheek when he was 3 months old. I took no mind to it,seeing how he likes to sleep on him stomach, and when he does, he sleeps with that cheek down in his drool. I am very concern now. Recently I have put on a bandaid on his cheek to keep stuff out of it. I took off the bandaid, and the next day he developed a rash from it. I just thought it was an allergic reaction to the bandaid. And yesterday, his rash worsen, looking like a million pimples on his face where the rash developed, and now on his other cheek and on his chest, neck, back, and arms. Yesterday I took him to the doctors too. The doctor told me it was just a "heat rash". But I don't agree with him. And today it has worsen. He doesn't want to eat or want to be held at all! I read something today about Fifths Disease. Fifth disease is a mild rash illness that occurs most commonly in children. The ill child typically has a "slapped-cheek" rash on the face and a lacy red rash on the trunk and limbs. Occasionally, the rash may itch. An ill child may have a low-grade fever, malaise, or a "cold" a few days before the rash breaks out. The child is usually not very ill, and the rash resolves in 7 to 10 days.
So, is that what my child has maybe? I don't know. I don't know how to post pictures, or I would post them. I'm very concern for my baby please help!
I'm not in the medical field, but my first thought is that the rash sounds like a reaction to the detergent you use to wash his sheets. Have you recently changed brands? Use a little more when washing his bed linen? Maybe the rinse cycle isn't rinsing well enough to get all the detergent out.
