How is 'dark magic' different from just plain magic, or is there such a thing as 'dark magic'?

Magic is supposedly just like a weapon. It can be used for good or evil. "white/light magic" would be assocaiated with good purposes i.e. healing, fore and far seeing, asking for power from higher ups and gaurdians and things of that nature, whereas "black/dark magic" is usually associated for bad purposes i.e. necromancy, blood sacrifice (of some kind), asking power from demons and that type of thing. At least to my understanding.

Magic has no color, it is neither positive nor negative - it is a neutral energy which requires intent to form it and put it to purpose.

If my intent is to cause harm, the energy becomes negative (dark) if my intent it to cause health or peace then it becomes positive.

That's how it works in a nutshell.

Thanks David and FairyAngel. I don't know if magic, and casting a spell on someone could be the same thing, but I heard a Filipino say that she can cast spells on people. I also heard her talking about Dark magic. I heard her saying something to the effect of putting a dead fish out in the sun to dry, but I didn't get what her reasons were. Roll Eyes

Magick is magick, nothing more nothing less. It is a way to use energy in order to achieve your goals. It is neither light or dark, good or evil, it simply is. It is the intent of the user which can make it either “good” or “bad.” There is really do such thing as a “white witch” or “white magick.” A “white witch” is simply a witch who does not harm others with her magick.
Magick should never ever be used “like a weapon,” but it can certainly be used to cause harm, by those of lesser ethics. This is not “black magick,” this is simply magick used with harmful intent.
Honilov, magick is the act of casting spells, but there can be more to it than that. Herbalism is also often considered magickal, as are chants and energy raising. But spellwork is certainly magick.
As for “dark magick,” there certainly are some who call what they do dark magick. The only dark magick I am acquainted with is dark moon magick, which is simply magick that is performed under the Dark Moon (as opposed to the New Moon or Full Moon).

Yes, a dead fish left out to dry will certainly have negative effects on anyone near it. And it could certainly be associated with voodoo or so-called black magick, but anyone might incorporate a dead fish into their spellwork, not only those with wicked intentions.

Thanks Elexina for the explanation, and I believe this lady was talking about voodoo when she was talking about the dead fish.

Quite possibly. But keep in mind that Voodoo, when practiced ethically, is not nearly as horrible and vile as Hollywood often makes it out to be. Smile

You all make very good points on your explanations
of what Dark/Black and Light/White magick is, But its just a simple use of energy.

Like Elexina was saying its how that energy is used to determen how it is taken to affect.
