My sister has all her life experienced this phenomonen. She walks into her bedroom and lo - the bed is on the opposite side of the room! All the furniture even the room itself, has reversed its direction. If she looks out the window the front yard has reversed as well.
She has asked around, and believes it's connected to magnetite. Has anyone ever heard of this and know what it is called?
Thank you.

Well, for one thing, you must be using the wrong word: go to============================================== http://www.answers.com/magnetite?gwp=11&ver=1.0.6.171&method=3 ============================================ Here is probably the most important question:
Has anyone other than her seen this phenomenon???

========================================== I mean see it at her house - a before look at the room and then after the change ??? In other words, an eye witness ???

Wow deja vu. There was a long post about this about 2 years ago... I thought the answer had been revealed in that post.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it but I know it's here somewhere...and the reversal was due to a temporary brain malfunction. I thought Honilov posted the original question....

Has she tried putting her shoes on when she is suffering this condition?
If everything is reversed there must be some point at which the apparent reverse is untenable; the feet seems a good place to start, but anything really close would probably serve.
I take it that this impression is fleeting, in which case deja vu suggests itself as somewhat similar. That is said to be from a slight difference in phasing. The brain has created a sort of echo; the information has been processed and a split second later it does it again; we resolve this by the thought that we have been in the place before, rather than by appreciating the doubling.
The condition is similiar to strephosymbolia which is the perception of objects reversed or seeing a mirror image of an object and I do still believe it is a temporary brain based disorder. You see, when we look at an image the brain must process what we are seeing. That process begins in the occipital lobe and then proceeds to the parietal and temporal lobes. It is in these areas that the the brain begins to process the location and appearance of the object which is displayed in the occipital lobe. There are additional areas of the brain that are associated with associative memory (Parietal lobe, Occipital lobe, and Temporal lobe) and decision making (Frontal lobe) and they contribute to the process of the perception of the image.
If your sister has had this all her life has she never seen a neurologist for any sort of diagnosis or had any scans done?

Well, I for one am totally disappointed. I thought you meant that all her life, your sister has come home and found her bedroom rearranged in reality (not just a trick of the senses), like little gnomes or aliens were visiting her house and using magnetite to rapidly affect this change. I'm so disappointed. Why, oh, why, isn't the world like the science-fiction/fantasy novel it should be?
