I've been really looking into hyposis lately after trying it for the past two months and I want to know if anyone could share their experiences!

I've used it to boost my self confidence and since then I've never been so happy in my entire life! I know that sounds pretty significant, but I just suddenly feel so confident that my boss from my last job(quit on wed. last week) said that he can really see a difference. Is there anyone who would also have any views from the science side of the subject? I'm all ears...

I have never been hypnotised myself. At least not to my recollection. I saw it done at a club once, but i didn't particularily like what the hypnotist had done to his subjects.
I think the subject of hypnosis is very interesting, although i haven't had much time to study it myself.

I am curious though, is the hypnosis you used self-hypnosis, or did someone else hypnotis you?

Hypnosis can be a very tricky subject. It involves a lot of manipulation, so you have to make sure the hypnotist is a reputable one.
You should give meditation a try, to see if that works for you as well.

I don't think you would do anything under hypnosis that you normally wouldn't do anyways.

If you would never smoke, hurt someone or bark like a dog then a hypnotist couldn't make you.

A hypnotist can help you to let down your apprehensions and inhibitions. You would be doing what you normally are capable of doing anyway.

I tried several group sessions of hypnosis for weight loss in 1981.
The hypnotist taught us how to focus on something while she talked us through physical relaxation, then mental relaxation.
While we were in this super-relaxed state, she gave us suggestions about eating healthful foods, and implanted images in our minds, both positive and negative.
As long as I attended the sessions, I did lose weight.
But after the classes ended, I was not very successful at keeping up self-hypnosis at home.

I've heard of people having success conquering various problems through hypnosis.
I think if I had been able to keep it up, I would have had more success too.

I took a Psychology 101 course in college, and one class session involved hypnosis. The professor wanted to see how susceptible we all were to hypnosis. In my case, the answer was a resounding not at all, but one student was so deeply hypnotized he fell out of his seat. And from what I heard later, the professor had a horrible time trying to get him to wake up.

Kalena mentioned self-hypnosis...how can you hypnotize yourself, and if you make yourself go to sleep, how can you wake up?

Better yet, how can someone else make you go to sleep?

I have been hypnotized several times and have done some hypnotization myself.

The myths and flat-out lies that surround hypnotization are incredible. Hypnosis is nothing more than a method for decreasing outside stimuli so that the mind can focus on one thing, with the idea that perhaps that one thing can make a stronger impression. It bears more resemblance to one of those sensory deprivation tanks they put you in than to some mystical, magical and exceedingly dangerous arcane rite. There is nothing in hypnosis that can hurt you. I suspect the boy who fell off his chair was sleep-deprived in the first place and simply nodded off - easy to do when "Put under."
