hey motzart, not fair. I'll play even, by adding some more information. Until the circumsision takes place, the parents do not give the baby a name. This acctually occured last year at the family where I boarded. For a whole month, he was just called the baby because he was not named yet.
Leppi,I spoke to a Jewish friend of mine, and asked him the same question and he came up with this answer: When a child is born with Jaudice or premature. Now this is a temporary delay until the circumcision takes place.
What I am looking for is not. When I told him my answer,he was stumped and told me that he was going to discuss it with his rabbi.
I do have a good source,however,from a web page.

Motzart, the place that is written is in the gemara in yevamot. What both answers stem from the same root. Circumsition when endangers the baby's life, may not be performed. In the case of a jaundice baby or in a case where the first three sons have died, both times it is obviously a risk to the childs life. An intresting footnote is that when the jews crossed the jordan river and entered israel, they all were circumsized at that point. But why didn't they circumsize during the 40 years in the desert? Because of the constant traveling and the hot desert climate, it was a danger to the children. Therefore, when they entered israel, and it was safer, then they were circumsized.
