this is the place where as per some sayinf of the holy prophet (peace be upon him), Christ 'son of Maryam' will catch Dijjal and kill him.
It will at this very time that Allah will send Christ, son of Mary. He will descend at the white minaret on the eastern side of Damascus, wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he lowers his head, there will fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he raises it up, beads like pearls will scatter from it. Every non-believer who smells the odor of his body will die and his breath will reach as far as he is able to see. He will then search for him (Dajjal) until he catches hold of him at the gate of Ludd and kills him. Sahih Muslim, Book 40, No. 7015

No, this was a great question. I for one was very interested and should have asked you for a clue. I spent ages looking for info on this one. But was looking in the wrong places it turns out. However, I did learn a lot about the city of Lod, so I guess it wasn't time wasted!
Oh ok thanks. If you had asked for a clue I would have said 'Ludd' the name in Arabic I suppose and you proberbly would have reached the relevant site. I did not give the clue on my own as currently my internet access is too slow, so just gave the direct answer.
