How does a person make thier silverware kosher for passover?

If it's never been used it is already Kosher...I was told by a Jewish co-worker. If it has been used, you clean it and then drop it piece by piece into boiling water.

Correct, except even it's never been used before, you still have to do something to the silverware enable to use them.
