I have been trying to find out for a long time about an old Babe Ruth strip card that I have. I bought it at an Elk’s Lodge auction a long time ago. The closest thing I can find is this image.

I was wondering who made it, and in what year. (I think in the 1920's) I know it was a strip card that was cut. Ty Cobb was on the same strip (I did not buy that one Mad ) along with a boxer and wrestler. I never plan on selling it, but I am curious.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Confused

Hello koz,

I spent a considerable amount of time hunting around on the net for the strip card manufactures. Many companies produced the trading cards; there were some major manufactures that produced many of the trading cards. Among them were Piedmont, Sovereign, Ramly, Hassan, Mecca,

During the 1920’s and 30’s strip cards were popular and were printed on the backs of cereal boxes, cracker jacks, magazines, cigarette cartons, matchboxes, etc. Fro Joy cream in 1927 issued a set of black and white cards of Babe Ruth that came with the ice cream. If the set were sent in by mail, the mailer would receive a photo of Ruth and an uncut sheet of cards.

There are numerous card shows that you can attend, take the card with you and show it around. Someone may have more information about that card, who the manufacturer was, the year it was printed and where.

Koz - piggins gave some awesome advice, the only thing I'd add is that there are as many rip-off card dealers as you could imagine. You may have a legit 80 year-old card, and show it to some dude at a show who recognizes it as being valuable, and tell you "It's a repro, I'll take it off your hands for 5 bucks". I've gone to shows solely to hunt these guys out, so I know who not to deal with in the future. Be careful, sounds like you have a cool card.
