OK, guys--need your help BADLY--

I need to find websites where I can find info on ANY day in sports history (not just the current one)--and the birthdays of sports participants--again, NOT particularly for the current day..I'm going crazy with this!

First of all, Bob, you might want to consult with your fellow Connecticut Sports Writers Alliance members to see if they have any resources to share with you.

I found calendars at amazon.com that list sports milestones and birthdays:

365 Days of Sports Facts

Here are the "best" sites I found on the Internet, although none of them are really what you're looking for:

Infoplease.com
Click on "today's birthdays" and "this day in history" to search other dates. Click "sports" on the left side of the page to access the Sports Almanac with their "year by year" section (just gives you a few highlights).

BaseballAlmanac.com
Search "Year in Review" for baseball events.

Here's a 2002 sports chronology from si.com that I stumbled upon...I can't find any other years on their site, though.

The following sites are "general"...you might find some sports info on them, but probably only MAJOR sports events and birthdays. None of them listed Chuck Knoblauch on my birthday.

It's amazing there aren't any websites devoted solely to sports milestones and birthdays.

I would recommend a book purchase
or two. Starting with :

The Sporting News : This Day In Sports,
a super book in calendar format loaded
with just the info you are seeking

It is out of print, but there are
copies available thru Amazon's used
and out-of-stock dealers available
starting at 5 bucks !

There are a few other books with the
same format, including a good one
by Guinness I believe.
