Yank-- Good question--I like Rivera a lot--but I think Trevor Hoffman could be included on this list also..The stats don't lie--and he has played on some LOUSY ballclubs during his time..

11-24-02, 04:51 AM Beano What other closers in history have consistently saved 40 games a year for a lousy team? I can't think of any. It's one thing to save 40 a year for a team that wins 100 games, it's another thing entirely to save 40 for a team that only wins 60. Hoffman's in the same boat as A-Rod...you play for a lousy team, you don't get your just due.
