This is Newcastle United's "change" strip for 2009/10 Do you like it?

The clear winner/loser must be the Mexico Goalkeepers strip in the '94 World Cup in the US
As far as I know they have sold 2 kits in the fan shop (with a 20% discount) Eek whereas at the other clubs they are restocking Daily

Best ever away kit was the Emerald Green Liverpool "Candy" design of the early 1990's ( With 3 yellow bands on the right shoulder) the Home Version was of course in Red(same design)
The classic Green strip is still sold They Still wear green (different design/sponsor ) but it is a "3rd choice" strip

It looks like striped rock [rock candy] Big Grin That's appropriate as the sponsor's name shown is Northern Rock.

Did you see Chelsea's away strip last season? It was entirely fluorescent yellow and the goalkeeper wore entirely fluorescent orange. It looked as though ten of them expected the floodlights to fail, when they alone could find their team mates in the dark. And seen through the net of the goal, dressed in orange, the goalkeeper looked like a prisoner behind the wire mesh in Guantanamo Smile

Do American teams, in any team game, change the design of their wear every season? In soccer, every team does it, both for the home strip and the away strip. The reason is that that makes them loads of money.Every kid will want the new designs for that season and a great many adult fans buy the new ones too. There's also an enormous export market in soccer kit because the big teams like Manchester United are global brands with a worldwide fan base. It's expensive too. Chelsea's new kit costs about £40 [$65] just for the one shirt , about £30 [$48] for the kids' sizes.

quote:

Manchester United lost four and drew one of their five (or four and a half) games in the notorious grey kit. It was officially retired two days after this game, and they proceeded to win every remaining fixture to take the title

Well, Newcastle were relegated last season and they've just lost 6-1 to Leyton Orient, a team from the division below them. And they were wearing their new away strip. Big Grin

Not that I am aware of, Fred. Often, it's a big deal when a baseball team does it. Fans get very attached to the older uniforms.
