Here is a link to a site that has a toll free number. You can call them and they will appraise your cards over the phone for free.

Guide or Tuff Stuff are monthly
publications for collectible cards
available for the major sports.

For the more popular players, especially
the rookie cards, you can see what high
grade cards are trading for at The Pit.
