I work for a small, community newspaper (sports editor) in Missoula, Montana and one of the funner times of year has rolled around. I'm writing the second instalment of "Top 10 Worst Sports Stories" of 2006.
I'm having a bit of trouble remembering that far back. Here's what I've come up with, but I would love some help...

-T.O. he's had an interesting year.
-Floyd Landis/ Justin Gatlin fail drug tests in their respective sports.
-Phil Mickleson's collapse at the U.S. Open.
-Maurice Clarett.

I have a few more, but your help is needed.
(Note: I also do a Top 10 sports stories of the year with stories of local athletes, just so you don't think I'm nothing but a negative journalist.)

Thanks,
Mark

Gotta have the Knicks-Nuggets brawl in there--or the entire mess in NY under Isiah Thomas Big Grin

true indeed...do you think the knicks/Pacer brawl was blown out of proportion?

The Ryder Cup result must have been very hard to take Stateside, surely? Or maybe you're all used to Europe winning so often now? Smile

T.O., by himself, makes up all ten of the top ten in my opinion! Big Grin Razz

Along the same lines as Fred's reply, from an American point of view, the U.S.' dismal showing in the World Baseball Classic (or whatever it was called Wink) ought to be there somewhere too.

Welcome to the Pool, Mark! I've been to Missoula several times and live just a few short hours away. Smile

Nice well-written article, Mark, and good for you for remembering Buck.

(Howard would have been proud of you for using "verticality" in a sports column.)

Ditto to what DG said; having written at length about Buck before, I can truly say he was a very special man who is worthy of any remembrance... Cool

Nicely done article. An enjoyable read.

Here in Arizona one of the worst stories came from a former ASU football player... Mitchell "Fright Night" Freedman was sentenced to 108 years in prison for 15 counts including kidnapping, sexual assault etc . This coming one year after one ASU football player was accused of shooting and killing a former ASU football player.

Of course Dennis Erickson will fix those kind of problems. After all, he is known for disciplined and classy players Roll Eyes
