The color is starting to go on my TV. I only have 2 choices in adjusting it: color and tint. No matter how I fiddle with them, I end up either all grey, all red, or a sickish magenta. When it's grey, everybody has red shadows. What's going on? My set is about 15 years old. Do I have to get a new one? Does anyone work on TVs any more?

It sounds like one of your tubes blew. You might be able to get it (the tube) replaced, but it would probably be more cost efficient in the long run to just replace the TV.
There are some television repair places left. Try in teh phone book. It depends on your area though--there really aren't many, TVs are almost disposable now

Yes, it's probably better to just invest in a new tv rather than trying to get the old one fixed. It might be expensive to fix the old one as it is such an old model.
The electron gun in the funnel of your CRT (cathode ray tube)television produces 3 beams of light, 1 for each of the 3 colors that make up the screen. The red gun is more often the one to go bad. but unlike a light bulb they dont burn out, they actually over produce and thats why you see red tones dominating the picture. the only cure for this is to replace the tube, but as previously stated thi isnt very economical. your best bet is to purchase a new television.
