I decided to get my husband his own camera the other day. He has tried to use mine and starts messing with the buttons. Then he takes pictures that don't work for what he wants. I thought if I could find him a nice small camera he could put in the pocket of his shirt, he would leave mine alone. I got him a Kodak Easy Share M883. It has no little peep hole up at the top so now he CAN'T keep trying to put the camera up to his eye. He has to use the screen. The camera has a big screen on it which is easy to see, it has 8mp and 3 optical zoom. It fits in his shirt pocket just perfect. Since he will be using it while horse back, I got it in red so he can see it when he drops it.........and he will drop it! I set it on sports setting so even if he's riding, the pictures come out good. It has a lot of different features but I haven't told him about them yet. It is really a neat little camera and didn't cost very much at all! It would also be great for a young teenage kid that is just starting out.

Thanks for the information, Judy. I can attest to the above comment on digital cameras generally.
I purchased a small digital camera for my 9 year old daughter last year. That might seem quite an extravagant gift for a young child, but it was well worth it.
With her memory card, she can take around 200 photos and put them onto the computer, and start again. She's rarely interested in printing them out.
She has so much fun with it; taking pictures of her friends and her pets. How many pictures does anyone want to see of a hamster? With this it doesn't matter, she can click away to her heart's content!
We don't have to worry about the cost of film, or developing. I can't remember offhand what make her camera is, but like the one you bought, it is bright red, so she doesn't misplace it easily.
It also has a neat little feature, where on taking the picture you can add little extras to the photo right there on the camera, and view them through the camera window.
One of these features is a 'princess crown'. She had some friends over for a party in the summer and took pictures of them all, including one of a little boy in her class. As a joke, after she had taken the photo, she added a princess crown to the top of his head, and then called him over to look at it.
It was pretty funny, to see him look with surprise at the image on the screen, and then touch the top of his head to make sure he wasn't somehow, actually wearing the crown.Big Grin

I think your husband will have fun with his camera...so long as his horse doesn't stand on it when he drops it!
