Has anyone bought and used a DVD recorder? Not just the player. The new one records. If so was it hard to operate, and how is the quality? How much did you pay for it?

There are several companies making these machines currently. Panasonic has one at about $1000. I think Samsung makes one for around $500. The picture quality depends on the source. If the source is very good then the recording will be as well. Conversely, if the source is only fair then that is what your result will be. They are not hard to use, as with anything there will be a learning curve. The blank media is still a little expensive, 8-9 dollars, however they can be used MANY times over. I am kind of surprised that there is not more of an ad push for them. And, as with most electronics, they will only come down in price and go up in performance. I have noticed that since the DVD recorders have come on the market, video recorders have gotten VERY inexpensive.

I would love to have a DVD recorder. I think that I will hold out until the price drops, which I am sure it will. If they are anything like operating my digital camera, you will need a three credit hour course to figure it out! Some of this new electronic equipment has so many options that is is so hard for me to operate and use these miserable things! I guess that I don't have the patience to memorize the instructions any more.
