Will be buying dream TV soon (I hope), and need a good argument for/against the extra bucks to get the HDTV-ready set, or not. The sales shmoes can only argue for of course, but want to hear all sides. Thanks for your opinion.

Hey, I am for HDTV. The HDTV is very popular now and I think if you can afford it, you might as well go with the flow. I've had one for at least a year and I just love it. It's just like being at the movies and there's great convenience of connecting so much at once.

After visiting Costco this weekend and seeing that there are fabulous looking HDTV's 44" and larger for as little as 1200$ 50" for 1500$ I say it's finally reasonable to buy one. They really do look great... I would get the wide flat screen.
5 years ago the same TV's cost over 10,000$
But... I don't need another TV right now, so I'll just enjoy other people's big TVs for now.
