After many years with cable, we moved and had to change to satellite TV. We set up the VCR to record a program but found that now we have to turn on the VCR when we want to watch TV. Is that correct? Is there a switch we're not finding?

Second - our two VCRs have only two-digit numbers for channel selection. We use L1 for the satellite but that means the TV must be tuned to the numbered channel. Also the receiver box must be left on. That's inconvenient if we're planning to be gone. Is there a newer version VCR that will do the three-digit numbers?

Thanks!

I have the exact same problem! My TV has to be on constant channel 3. I cannot watch one program and record another.

I suggest that you call 'tech support' to make sure that there isn't another way, for your particular service. For me, there is no other way!

All companies are selling, at a highter price, recording of wanted programs. That does not mean you can have a copy to record!

I have tried to record HBO or Showtime favorite movies 'On Demand'. You wouldn't believe how poor this records, with a ton of static and no stero at all.

Give 'tech support' a call, but I doubt you will get anything better than I do, lousy VCR recording of wanted movies to view later.
