We just order a TiVO box but don't know if we need to pay for the subscription service. The salesman said we could record three days ahead with just the regular service. If we're going to be out of town for a length of time, we've got VCR's to do that recording. So, what is there about the subscription service that's worth the money?

When you purchase the standard Tivo suscription service you don't have to worry about setting your VCR to record. You just select your favorite shows from the menu and Tivo will find and record every episode whenever it airs. There is also another subscription plan that allows you to find and record shows by actor, director, subject matter, etc.
