Need some help. My VCR tape keeps popping out while recording or just not recording. Doesn't matter. Anytime it feels like it, out pops the tape. It is a Panasonic PV 4561. Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated. I posted this on the DR, but was told to come here for a better answer. Thanks, gotta hurry and go to work. Will read answers later tonight. Smile

Johnny - does this happen with all tapes? If it only happens with one or two then check to see if the "record protect" tab is still in place on your video tapes. (This is a little plastic square on both ends of the tape that when broken off prevents you from accidently taping over) It's possible there is a small indentation or chip in it which is preventing the tape from staying in your VCR. If this is the case just place a piece of tape over the tabs....if you must use that tape...if not, just put in a fresh tape.

Georgia, it happens with all tapes, old or new. I never take those tabs off to save the recording. They are just the way they are when I take the wrapping off.

Well Pooh Razz
Maybe the VCR isn't reading the length of the tape. Put a fresh tape in and then on the menu (or remote) select the option that allows you to view the amount of tape is available for recording. If it shows that the tape is full then it's an internal problem in your VCR.
Or it could be something as simple as every time you put a tape in the machine there is something out of alignment that is pressing into the tape protection tab...Test that by placing a cassette with the tab broken off (a video) and see if you can watch the entire video without it ejecting. If you can...I still say it's something to do with that protection tab!

Georgia85, thanks for the response. I am going to try the test to see how much tape is left to record on. I'll see what happens. Good thing VCRs don't cost much anymore. Let you know. Thanks again. Smile

The geniuses who installed my mother's carpet might be able to help. While moving things, they dropped her VCR, and now the tapes won't pop out without walking over and taking them out manually.
