I have win xp and have recently enabled the Firewall connection, but because of the still extremely annoying .Net Messenger pop-up, I'm thinking that Zone Alarm will be better. Can I keep them both running?
Also, on the Internet Options advanced tab, should 'allow passive FTP' be checked, or not checked?
If you're not using Internet Explorer to upload files to your Website, you can disable the "allow FTP" option. It would be a safer setting.
Windows XP Firewall:
The built in Firewall in Windows XP is not really very good. If it were me, I would install the free ZoneAlarm and disable the Windows XP firewall. However, you can run both if you wish.

Hi Dwight, and thanks. It seems that Zone Alarm is the only way I can rid myself of that annoying .Net crap-ola. I tried everything, even Shoot the Messenger didn't work. Pesky little thing. Anyway, I'll disable xp firewall, and keep Zone Alarm. Thanks again, lv
Thanks, Jw, I did as you suggested. I have another question. Every time I try to move the box that pops up with the quick reply, my computer disconnects from the inter net. By moving the box I mean reposition, like when I want to move it so I can see the post behind it. I can't minimize it like I can when I use the regular reply button. Do you know why that happens?
For some odd reason IE (and any program that uses it, including AOL, etc.) tends to crash when you try to relocate the quick reply box. It's happened to me.
If you want to see the post that it would normally cover up, just use the full reply box.
Mozilla, Netscape, and Opera are not subject to this bug. It works prefectly under these browsers.
