Please be very careful about downloading and installing "AdAware" type of programs. Several programs that claim to be ad removal programs are in fact just ad generating or key stroke logging programs. I can recommend Ad-Aware (Please note the program name's spelling) from Lavasoft (click for the download). Also, there is Spybots version 1.3 (Click for download/program description). Another very useful Anti-Spyware tool is Spyware Blaster from Javacool Software. This one help prevent spyware and browser hijackers from compromising your system in the first place. With all of these tools, keeping them updated is very important. You can read more about all of these tools at my site.I hope this helps! Dwight

Thank you, soaringhorse, for your comment. I hope the new Personal Edition of Ad-Aware will help. I just checked out your Webpage and loved the pictures! Dwight

Oh I saw the viruses before anything picked them up. As I was loading the definitions for Ad-Aware SE my computer froze up. When it started running again I had 2 new desktop icons - one for TVMedia and another for SecondThought. I knew I didn't put them because I just use my computer to send out e-mails and NEVER open e-mails that come from any source I do not know. I don't download, I don't play games, and I don't surf. Anyway, when I saw the icons I ran Ad-Aware and immediately browser windows popped open. I was not online, the computer wasn't even plugged into the phone line. But hundreds of windows would open up and the only way to close them was to go to Task Manager and quickly "end task" as soon as you could get the curser to land on one of the opened windows icons.
Anyway, this went on for hours. A friend of mine found a virus scanner for me, believe it is AntiVir, and when I ran it, sure enough, recognized the above as Trojans. Even now, when I get on the computer, occasionally AntiVir will pop up as I am in the middle of working and show that I have another Trojan. But for the most part, I think I've cleaned out my computer. At least I don't have the hundreds of windows opening up on me.
