I recently purchased a IBM 760E Laptop off EBay. Just to play around i set a start-up password. I know that one but i also set a supervisor password and i think i know it but the keys are so close it is possible that it is something else.

Anyway what i want to know is how to remove both passwords so that i don't have to enter a password at start-up.

Please help soon!!!

Assuming that this isn't a BIOS password, you can change or remove passwords in the Control Panel. For Windows 95 through Windows ME:

Start/Settings/Control Panel
or (depending on the Operating System)
Start/Control Panel

Open the Password utility. Click "Change Password". Type in the old password, but don't put anything in the new password, just leave it blank. Click OK on it.

For Windows XP use the "User Accounts" utility in Control Panel. Open the user account and then "Change Password" option. Again, type in the old password, but leave the new one blank.

If this password was a BIOS password, you will have to open the BIOS and make the change there in the Security section.

This is a link to IBM and their pages on the IBM 760 E.

I hope something here helps!

Thanks Dwight for pointing me to IBM's website. All i had to do is dig a little deeper into IBM's archive of info for my model and I found an online user guide that explained how to do this. Cool
