i am using zone alarm as a firewall, and it is being strange.
when ever i enter a password, for here, hotmail, herport, or anywhere else, it always asks if i want to send it. this is normal. what isnt normal is the fact that it asks if i want to send 'ebay password'.
???
its NOT ebay! why is it telling me im sending my ebay password to hotmail, when the user name isnt even the same? or to here, or anywhere else?
it DOSENT ask me this at ebay however. it just says do you want to send the password.

mattlynda,
You didnt mention if you have the free version of ZA, so I'm assuming you do. I have the ZA Pro version, and I've never had it ask me anything like that, but in my opinion, it would be best to go through all the Options in the Zone Alarm Control Panel, and see if there's anything that will turn this annoying habit off. If not, I'd consider uninstalling it, then re-installing with a new download from ZoneLabs.

I have the free version and that has never happened to me. I agree with vansrme in that it might be a bug from ebay, or one of it's advertisers.
But, I have never been asked to 'send a password' either. I just go to those sites as I normally did before I installed ZA.

thanks for the tips.
i dont know what options my husband chose when he set it up, but i imagine he put it on the highest available security, because the one and only virus we ever got cost us $400 to clean up after, and a week without the computer.

In the newest version of ZoneAlarm, there is an "Ebay Password" option. This is in both the Free and the Pro version. During the initial installation of ZoneAlarm you can choose Yes or No to this option.

Here is what the ZoneAlarm "Help" section says (in part) about it:
Creating an eBay protection profile
If you are an eBay user, protect your online profile by entering it into Zone Labs security software. Zone Labs security software protects your password by making sure it is only sent to authorized eBay destinations.

To enter your eBay password in ZoneAlarm and ZoneAlarm Plus:

Select Overview|Preferences.

In the eBay Protection Profile area, click Password.

the Edit eBay Password dialog appears.

Type your eBay password into the password and confirm fields, then click OK.

To enter your eBay password in ZoneAlarm Pro or ZoneAlarm Pro with Web Filtering:

Select ID Lock|myVAULT, then click Add.

The Add information to myVAULT dialog appears.

Type a description of the item, then select eBay password from the category drop-down list.

Type your eBay password into the password and confirm fields, then click OK.

Asterisks will appear in place of the data you entered and an encrypted form of your eBay password will be stored in myVAULT. The original information is not stored on your computer.

Specify whether you want the information to be protected when using Web and E-mail.

Click OK to save your changes.

For more information about the how Zone Labs security software keeps passwords and other personal data safe, see Protecting your data.
To read more about this, open the ZoneAlarm Control Center and click on Help. Click the "Search" tab and then type in:
ebay
Then click "Display".

I hope this helps!

Phew, good job Dwight Smile, good to know it wasn't a virus. Since I have an older version of the free ZA, I didn't think it asked for it either.

Wow! I just checked my version of ZA, and though it is an up to date version, it still does not have the eBay option. I guess its a new version that I cant get, since my subscription is about to run out. LOL I followed Dwight's instructions, but have nothing about eBay on mine. Oh well!

Maybe you selected "No" to the option?

mattlynda, you are making a BIG mistake if you think Zone Alarm will prevent a virus!! An anti virus program is still needed!!
