I have Norton Internet Security 2003, and I'm having two issues with it.

The first is that it keeps warning me that its going to expire. Its been doing this since I installed it. But it even says in the warning that it doesn't expire until May 04. When I try to turn those warnings off, it tells me I don't have system administrator priviledges, even though I am the system administrator and it says so when I open the program and look.

Second problem is with the intrusion alerts. When they pop up on the screen asking what I'd like to do ("allow" or "block"), there is a block to tick saying "always use this action". Even though I tick that block each time, it still pops up for the same thing (always "a remote computer is trying to access your system").

I tried to call their support, but it is not only very expensive but they are no help. When I called about the system administrator thing, they just told me to get the system administrator to fix it. When I told them I was the adminstrator, they argued with me Roll Eyes

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just got rid of Norton Internet Security 2003. For normal home use it gives more protection than necessary and interrupts with too many messages. It slows things down too much scanning everything in site.

Just get rid of it. Smile

My husband and I both go to college online and download a lot of stuff. Plus I play here. What would you recommend that would protect us but be less annoying? Wink

I have used and like the free Firewall program "ZoneAlarm", available from http://www.zonelabs.com

After having Norton's totally freeze my computer up at times, and having to reinstall over and over again, and believe me uninstalling it is not an easy chore, I got rid of it. I went to AVG which is a antivirus program that works just as well, and can be downloaded HERE
You will find that it is more secure and along with the Zone Alarm Firewall it works great together.
