My Norton Internet Security subscription expires in June. The version is 2003. Is it better to remove my old version and buy a 2005 version or do I just renew my subscription. Someone told me it is better to buy the new version, someone else says it's too much trouble just renew. I have had no problems at all with Norton. Any body have any recommendations?
Thank you, MKS

I'm not a big fan of Norton Products anymore, as, in my opinion, they've been declining in recent years, but if you really want to keep it, then I would suggest renewing the one you have, 2003. The newer products havent been rated very high in detecting Trojans or viruses. If you'd consider something free, then Avast! would be the one to go with. It has an excellent detection rate. Good luck!

I have to agree with vansrme on this. I was once a fan of Norton Anti-virus but in my opinion in recent years I believe the newer versions of Norton are just not very good.

I would go with the free one or just renew you Norton 2003 subscription. If my memory serves, this is the last year that Symantec will update the 2003 program files version.

Agree with Dwight and vansrme the Avast! AV Program is excellent value.
I post on another Computer Forum and it was given their Gold Award the other month
www.webuser.co.uk/products/Avast_46_Home_Edition_review_2433.html
And they don't award it often Roll Eyes
Also consider AVG Anti-Virus 7.0 which was the runner-up in the same test.

I have both running on my computer without conflicts Smile But if I'd choose between them,or if there was a conflict, I'd plump for the Avast program which works quietly and efficiently
Only thing I don't like about the AVG Program is if it picks a virus up it is quarantined for viewing later!Comment: Surely 9/10 of us want to "know" that? Frown( We just want it off the computer?!)Many other Programs have this "Fly in a Jar" Feature Confused
Rather have it logged instead. A line or 2 of text is 110% safer than the quarantine area Wink

Thank you,
vansrme,Dwight and bedstor, for your recommendations, for now I will just renew - but I have the addresses for the free programs saved and handy if I decide to go that way.
Thanks again, MKS
