I have Norton Internet Security 2003, and I'm having two issues with it.

The first is that it keeps warning me that its going to expire. Its been doing this since I installed it. But it even says in the warning that it doesn't expire until May 05, now, since I just renewed it last month. When I try to turn those warnings off, it tells me I don't have system administrator priviledges, even though I am the system administrator and it says so when I open the program and look.

Second problem is with the intrusion alerts. When they pop up on the screen asking what I'd like to do ("allow" or "block"), there is a block to tick saying "always use this action". Even though I tick that block each time, it still pops up for the same thing (always "a remote computer is trying to access your system"). It is continual. I have done the thing where you can tell it how to deal with the same kinds of intrusions, but for some reason it deals with each one as a new kind just because it is coming from a different ISP.

I tried to call their support, but it is not only very expensive but they are no help. When I called about the system administrator thing, they just told me to get the system administrator to fix it. When I told them I was the adminstrator, they argued with me. I called again recently and they said I had to pay them $30 just to ask the question on how to fix it, or call Cali or someplace far away so I'd pay long distance AND $3.99 a minute, probably to be told again that they can't fix it, so I'm not going to bother. Roll Eyes

Getting a different program is NOT an option right now so I really need info on this one. Please excuse the reposting but I had to change a few things in the question.

Firstly, check that your date and time is set correctly

Try running a live update

Check if your subscription renewal was successful

If you have had to use system restore at some stage, your old details may have replaced the new ones, so you may have to re-enter your new key

As for the second problem

Open NIS | NPF | NIS Pro 2003.
Click Intrusion Detection.
Click Turn Off.

The first part is all okay--the date and time are correct, the renewal was successful, and I've never used system restore.

If I turn off intrusion detection, will it allow the other computers to access my system, or will it stop them from doing it and just not tell me?

Thank you!
