The latest version of this great program has been released(2.6.1)
However there is an install snag It will NOT install over the Old version (2.5.0) which is NOT updating (Have to go to the new version)
Produces an error message
Easily Fixed !
The way to get a GOOD install is as follows..
1)Go into the Add/remove programs
1a) click in the Spywareblaster Item and uninstall
NOTE: It may say some items cannot be removed
Thats OK!
2) Go to the Spywareblaster site at
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html and click on the red link to download the installer (717k)
or this link:

3)select "Open" and save it to the "Old" location if your computer finds it? (You'll see what I mean by that if it happens )
The program will now install OK
then follow these instructions:HERE ...
Perform an update and make a NEW snapshot
Total time to do the lot 2 mins for the download and another 2 mins for the setups

My computer froze with the last version of this and wouldn't function at times. Will this version do that?

Without knowing at what stage it froze at I cannot give any advice on making it "work"
The error message I got reads something like "code 5 error" during the unzipping phase
All I can suggest is Uninstall the program then reinstall it the new and the old versions have a conflict . The new version cannot overwrite the old...So Uninstall the "old",download the "New" (Use "Open" not "Save to"... file) this will start the install process automatically
PS There is a "Tick" box underneath unticking it and you may have to search for the file location manually for the "start routine" SO TICK IT OK? This controls the "Auto-run" (When loaded) sequence

The reason that the 2 versions don't mix is as follows.. .despite being Identical in looks ect.
The program sizes are different(different coding)
The new versions size is 717K the old versions size is 736K
Big difference?

I thought I'd pass this information on, there will of course, be those who already know of its existence, but for the benefit of the others, it's a free spyware detection service by Pest Patrol, and basically you go to the link and enable ActiveX if not already done so, you must put a name and email add in too.
They run the scan to see who or what is lurking in your computer spying all the time. Very intersting.....
