Search through your cookies file and also look into the agreement for any free ware you have downloaded. I had a free screen caliper that waited about two months and then started opening all kinds of 'new site stuff'. It took forever to find because I forgot about it as far as a new site or download went due to the lapse of time. Each time the new unwanted items appeared they had a different source address but when I removed the screen caliper utility and it's associated cookies, there was no longer a problem.

Thanks Hugh for that, I found the solution to this (and the source) And I'm pleased to say it works..But there is further removal work to do (and it is not easy ) I forgot to say it started to produce tiny odd things like messages saying a ".dll" was shutting down So, what did I do to get this? This Hijacker is present on Java sites(and no one knows which ) It is called CoolWebSearch And it is picked up via Microsofts Java VM Not the Sun Version of Java In my case I have both versions running side by side. It took me quite a while to find this program CWW Shredder Only 129kb (takes seconds to load )Screenshot here... Download link just click the fix button and it runs a scan and Blanks the home page screen Have to Go into IE tools /options to reset to your old Home page but it fixes the problem and also points (Direct Links )to the next task(s) to be done either a patch(another! ) off Microsoft. Or the complete removal instructions of Microsoft VM (which is obsolete)Need to have the Sun Java Program installed already if you want to do this.Only thing is you will need extreme care Because several Critical entries in the Registry have to be removed manually Not the average computer users job. And B) It has to be done a specific route (Instructions will have to be printed out to help you) Have saved this program for use in future

Micro$oft Virtual Machine isn't quite redundant as yet.
Because of a trade off with Sun Java, Micro$oft users will still be able to use VM and will provide support until December 2007, although they will no longer distribute it with current and future versions of Windows
