Thanks for help!

Dwight your suspicions are justified.

The morze5 adds 4 files to start menu. They keep you from proceeding.

I removed the morze5 plus 4 by hand. Decided to take a chance before formatting the hard drive and spenting eternity reloading everything.

Added Adaware. Somehow it took over my "my computer " icon. Now when I right click "my computer " ti shows the proerties of Adaware. Pulling hair.
Virus free. Spyware free BUT the msconfig now takes 2minutes to run from the "run" button of the "start" screen. Slowed down before adding Adaware. I disabled everything on the start screen in msconfig except systray. Wonder whythe msconfig is sooo slow to appear. Any ideas? Win 98 Emachine 533.

Thanks in advance!

stanbee,
Have you tried running AdAware and Spybot in safe mode? Or running msconfig in safe mode? It may load faster, and get rid of more that way.I usually use safe mode in Win98 to get rid of most all spyware that running in regular mode wont. If this has been suggested already, please disregard. LOL Good luck!

I urge you to be sure that you're not disabling you anti-virus and Firewall software from running at start-up.

To get the system running in Safe Mode:

1. Restart the computer,

2. At the first screen, repeatedly press the F8 key until you see the Windows Start Menu.

3. Select Safe Mode (use the arrow keys to navigate) and press Enter.

In Safe Mode, run your system scans. This would also be a good time to run your scan disk and defrag (if you're running Win 98 or WinME).

When these tasks are complete, restart the computer. It will restart in Normal Mode.
