Did it look like an internet pop up that normally pop up while you're on the internet? Or did it look different than the window you have? If it looks like internet explorer or whatever you have, it's probably fake. Don't click it. Do you know if you have Norton virus detection on your computer? If it's a norton pop-up, then it's just letting you know you had a virus and now it's contained. Nothing to worry about.

I did a search on this and found:

quote: Symantec Security Response - Bloodhound.Packed... Symantec antivirus products exclusively use the virus name Bloodhound.Packed when a potentially unknown virus is found using Symantec Bloodhound technology. ...

So, its "quarantined" as a "Don't know!" Confused If you can delete it do so Asap Smile
And also see if there is a "Report to Symantec" link? and post the finding onto them SmileDo that 1st then delete Wink

Oh yeah, that's definitely the genuine Norton. Looks just like mine. So go try Cswchan's Trenmicro download.

Well not knowing too much I deleted files in the Norton reports and now I cannot send anything to Symantec. Now I have no idea on how to remove this virus because it really has no name yet I guess from what Bedstor quoted. So now what do I do????? Who do I call? Or how do I get rid of this?

Thanks for all your help. Confused

Hi luckyladee, you may be able to do a search of your computer, and just type in *.vir in the search for files or folders box. Or just put in the name of virus and see if it comes up, may not but worth a try. Oh, by the way, I hear this virus goes into your temp files, so after all this is fixed, clear out your temp files. Also there is yet another online scan site here, if the others do not pick anything up:

Kapersky's online scan

You might want to think about getting Adaware and spybot search and destroy when this is all finished. Also Spyware Blaster, and Zone Alarm.

What do you have on your system? Kazaa, yahoo? Sometimes they get in through your email, got to be careful not to open anything up if you don't know who it is. Do you have Hotbar? That one is really bad.

Thank you I will try your site and see what this one says.
This is in detail what I have done sofar:

updated STINGER- scanned nothing in results all files clean.

updated SpyBot- scanned nothing in results

Udated Adaware- scanned 1 object quarantined which is C/Windows/System32/mc.exe

Updated Norton anti virus- scanned 1 file infected, repair failed C/Windows/system21/mc.exe

I don't have Hot Bar, I don't have yahoo as email, I have outlook express and I never open any emails I don't know who the person is. I can always read alittle bit in Outlook Expres without opening the message. So now I really don't know what to do. I even went to My computer and checked turn off system restore and scanned with stinger and nothing!!! I thenm went bck and uncheck turn off system restore. I am really in a bind don't know what to do next.

Well guess what folks I do beleive the problem is fixed. I ran a Norton scan again this morning , Nortor quarantined the file, rebooted the computer and ran another scan and it says, all files scanned 51,000 or so all clean non infected so all is GOOD! ( I hope)

Hi, I don't use Outlook/OutlookExpress so I don't know for sure - but it is my understanding that using the preview feature in those programs can get you involved with a virus.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned it - or am I totally wrong?
Could someone answer this for me?
Thank you. MKS

The preview pane does not open the little envellope. My message stays in bold writting just as if I did not open the message so I assume I am OK. Now you have me doubting, anxious to get some answers on this.
